As they are a classic necessity, I’ve wanted a black pair for a while now. It’s always the worst when I’m on the hunt for something in particular; I seem to search every shop possible in order to satisfy my needs (well, wants). It takes me a worrying amount of time too, I spend hours pondering over which one’s to go for, weighing up the pros and cons. And obviously, there’s the infamous grey cloud that always seems to be lying over my head proving it’s annoying state of stability, threatening to remind me that I can’t actually afford such commodities. But, when cognitive dissonance comes in to play, the devil always seems to win every time; I like to call this the voice of reason. “Yes Danielle, these are very nice, you want these, you will wear these and they are only a small fortune…” So after doing a bit of research, I decided to go for the £120 Deena and Ozzy black Chelsea boots from urban outfitters. Check them out on the website, my favorite shoes at the moment! They also do them in a really cool white, a brown too!

People claim that naturally pale skin is a sign of beauty. If so, then why do the majority of us feel theneed to look like a walking, talking bottle of tango?

In western countries in the 1920’s, tanned skin wasassociated with outdoor work. If you were subject to the effects of the sun,you were considered to be of a lower class. Eventually the lower class foughtback; Coco Chanel was amongst those to set the tanning ball rolling. Gettingsunburnt whilst vacationing in France was the beginning of a new era. Her loyalfans responded to the look and adopted the notion of sunbathing. In the 1940’s,advertisements started encouraging the delights of sunbathing and in 1946; swimsuitcoverage was rapidly decreasing when Louis Réard created theelusive ‘tiny two piece’ bikini.

Naturally pale skin is almost socially unaccepted. Peopleinstantly frown upon this due to the fact these people are ‘different’. Well,change is good and now is a good a time as any to put that into motion. How canthis natural gift be so under rated when fashion icons such as the admirableDaphne Guinness, are blessed with such beauty? Daphne is known for her strikingappearance, and the stark contrast of her two-toned hair accentuates the beautyof her pale skin.

Nicola Roberts of ‘Girls Aloud’ fame first exploded into thelimelight when fans began relating to her milky white complexion above hertanned (if not slightly orange), band mates. In 2009, she launched her ‘anti-tan’ campaign and released ‘DaintyDoll’, a make up range dedicated to providing fairer-skinned girls with make upto accentuate their natural skin tone. Subsequently, a spout of adoring teenagefans began to ditch their tanning bottles and pick up their red lipsticks. Gonewas the notion of blending in, and in its place came the revolution of standingout with vivid colours and shimmering complexions.

Arguably, the new stance of paler skin over artificial tansis not entirely the responsibility of Robert’s. Icons throughout time such asMarilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn and modern celebrities such as, Florence Welch,Kate Winslet and Queen Viv have all contributed to the growing number of women embracingthe ‘natural’ look, and here’s hoping it continues. Viva la revolution!

Cocktail, anyone?

Me and my two friends drooled over Tom Cruise in the height of his sexiest days within the film industry yesterday. Yes, we watched Cocktail. I love this film, an absolute classic that leaves you not only dribbling over the prospect of being in the presence of Tom Cruise in the glorious sunshine, but also dribbling over the thought of sitting at his bar in Jamaica and sipping on a Pina Colada. Pure bliss. Whilst watching Cocktail, my friends and I picked up on an extremely excellent quote;

"Beer is for breakfast. Drink or be gone"

Pure genius, enough said!

After trying to work out the weird wonders of Word Press, created for the much more technically acclaimed people (myself not included), and after countless hours of me trying to work out how to successfully blog on Word Press, and I'm talking about how to actually sign in without being totally out of my depth, I decided to scrap it and join BlogSpot instead.
